Slippery When Wet: The Ford Brothers' Risky Road to Rock and Roll Stardom
The Ford Brothers' journey to rock and roll stardom was a slippery one, filled with twists, turns, and plenty of close calls. But through it all, they never gave up on their dream.
The brothers, Gary and Greg, were born in the small town of Winnetka, Illinois, in the early 1960s. They grew up listening to the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and other classic rock bands. By the time they were teenagers, they were playing in their own band, the Shadows.

In 1980, the Shadows released their debut album, Slippery When Wet. The album was a critical and commercial success, and it helped to launch the Ford Brothers' career. They toured the country, playing to sold-out crowds. They even appeared on television, performing on shows like Saturday Night Live and The Tonight Show.
But just when it seemed like the Ford Brothers were on the verge of superstardom, their career took a sudden turn. In 1983, Gary was arrested for drug possession. He was sentenced to six months in jail, and the band was forced to cancel their tour.
Greg was devastated by his brother's arrest. He didn't know what to do. He thought about quitting the band, but he couldn't bring himself to do it. He loved music too much.
So Greg decided to keep the band going. He recruited a new guitarist and drummer, and they started playing shows again. They didn't have the same success as they did with Gary, but they kept playing.
In 1989, Gary was released from jail. He was clean and sober, and he was ready to start playing music again. The Ford Brothers reunited, and they released their second album, The Long Road.
The Long Road was not as successful as Slippery When Wet, but it was still a good album. The Ford Brothers toured in support of the album, and they started to build a new following.
In the early 1990s, the grunge movement took hold of the music industry. The Ford Brothers' sound was suddenly out of fashion. They struggled to get booked for shows, and their record sales plummeted.
Once again, the Ford Brothers were on the verge of giving up. But they refused to let their dream die. They kept playing, and they kept writing songs.
In 1994, the Ford Brothers released their third album, Back to Basics. The album was a return to their roots, and it was a critical and commercial success. The Ford Brothers were back.
Since then, the Ford Brothers have continued to release albums and tour the world. They have never achieved the same level of success as they did with Slippery When Wet, but they have carved out a successful career for themselves in the music industry.
The Ford Brothers' story is a testament to the power of perseverance. No matter how many times they were knocked down, they always got back up. They never gave up on their dream, and they eventually achieved their goal of becoming rock and roll stars.
