Math games are a great way to help kids learn and practice math skills. They can make learning fun and engaging, and they can help kids develop important problem-solving skills. Here are some fun addition and subtraction games for kids from kindergarten to grade 5.

Kindergarten

  • Roll and Add: This is a simple game that can help kids practice adding numbers. To play, you will need a dice and some small objects, such as beans or counters. Roll the dice and have the child count the number of dots. Then, have them add that number to a pile of objects. Continue rolling the dice and adding objects until the pile reaches a certain number, such as 10 or 20.
  • Subtraction Toss: This game is a fun way to practice subtraction. To play, you will need a beanbag or small ball and a target with numbers written on it. Stand a few feet away from the target and toss the beanbag. The child then subtracts the number that the beanbag landed on from 10.

Grade 1

  • Addition War: This game is a variation of the classic card game War. To play, you will need a deck of cards. Deal the cards evenly between two players. The players then flip over their top card at the same time. The player with the higher number wins both cards. If the numbers are the same, the players go to war. To go to war, each player flips over three cards face down and then one card face up. The player with the higher face-up card wins all of the cards in the war.
  • Subtraction Bingo: This game is a fun way to practice subtraction facts. To play, you will need a bingo board with numbers written on it and a deck of cards. The caller draws a card and reads the number. The players then cross off the corresponding number on their bingo board. The first player to cross off all of the numbers on their board wins.

Grade 2

  • Two-Digit Addition: This game is a great way to practice adding two-digit numbers. To play, you will need a deck of cards with the face cards removed. Deal the cards evenly between two players. The players then flip over their top card at the same time. The player with the higher number wins both cards. If the numbers are the same, the players draw two more cards and add them to their total. The player with the higher total wins all of the cards.
  • Subtraction Race: This game is a fun way to practice subtraction facts. To play, you will need a game board with numbers written on it and two game pieces. The players take turns rolling a dice and moving their game piece around the board. When a player lands on a number, they have to subtract that number from 10. The first player to reach the end of the board wins.

Grade 3

  • Multiplication War: This game is a variation of the classic card game War. To play, you will need a deck of cards with the face cards removed. Deal the cards evenly between two players.
