With the current global pandemic, it is more important than ever to wear a face mask when you are out in public. Face masks help to prevent the spread of respiratory droplets, which can contain the virus that causes COVID-19. While you can purchase face masks from stores, it is also easy to sew your own. There are many different face mask patterns available online, but not all of them are created equal. Some patterns are difficult to follow, while others produce masks that are not very comfortable to wear. In this article, we will provide you with three easy sewing patterns for face masks that are perfect for beginners. These patterns are easy to follow and produce masks that are comfortable to wear and effective at preventing the spread of respiratory droplets.

Pattern 1: Basic Face Mask

This is the most basic face mask pattern, and it is perfect for beginners. The mask is made from two pieces of fabric, and it is sewn together with a simple stitch. The mask has a nose wire, which helps to keep the mask in place and prevent fogging glasses. It also has ear loops, which make it easy to put on and take off.

Materials:

* Two pieces of cotton fabric, each measuring 9" x 6" * A nose wire, measuring 6" long * Two pieces of elastic, each measuring 12" long

Instructions:

1. Fold one piece of fabric in half lengthwise, and then fold it in half again widthwise. 2. Sew around the edges of the fabric, leaving a small opening for turning. 3. Turn the fabric right side out and insert the nose wire into the opening. 4. Fold the edges of the opening under and sew them together. 5. Fold the top and bottom edges of the mask under by 1/2" and sew them together. 6. Thread the elastic through the ear loops and tie the ends together.

Pattern 2: Contoured Face Mask

This face mask pattern is a bit more contoured than the basic mask, which makes it more comfortable to wear. The mask is made from three pieces of fabric, and it is sewn together with a simple stitch. The mask has a nose wire, which helps to keep the mask in place and prevent fogging glasses. It also has ear loops, which make it easy to put on and take off.

Materials:

* Three pieces of cotton fabric, each measuring 9" x 6" * A nose wire, measuring 6" long * Two pieces of elastic, each measuring 12" long

6. Fold the side edges of the mask under by 1/2" and sew them together. 7. Thread the elastic through the ear loops and tie the ends together.

Pattern 3: Pleated Face Mask

This face mask pattern is a bit more stylish than the other two patterns.

6. Fold the side edges of the mask under by 1/2" and sew them together. 7. Fold the top and bottom edges of the mask under again by 1/2" and sew them together. 8. Thread the elastic through the ear loops and tie the ends together.

Tips For Sewing Face Masks

* Use a cotton fabric that is tightly woven. This will help to prevent the spread of respiratory droplets. * Wash the fabric before sewing it. This will help to remove any bacteria or viruses that may be present on the fabric. * Use a needle that is the right size for the fabric you are using. A needle that is too small will not be able to sew through the fabric, and a needle that is too large will create holes in the fabric. * Use a stitch that is strong and durable. A simple stitch, such as a straight stitch or a zigzag stitch, will work well. * Make sure to sew the mask around all of the edges. This will help to prevent the mask from coming apart. * Insert a nose wire into the mask. This will help to keep the mask in place and prevent fogging glasses. * Add ear loops to the mask. This will make it easy to put on and take off the mask.

Sewing your own face masks is a great way to save money and protect yourself and others from the spread of respiratory droplets. With these easy patterns, you can sew a face mask in no time.
